Responses to Post-it notes and questionairres
Members of the Community Council appreciated the ideas and suggestions made by people who left “post it” notes on 10 May and those that have been received through completed questionnaires. They will be taken on board by the Focus Groups that are working on the development of the Village Plan.
In the meantime the following are on the Council’s agenda during the next few months.
(i) “Dog Dirt”
The regulations change later this year and owners of dogs who foul walk ways will be liable to prosecution. The Community Council will press the County Council to see that the situation is monitored and the regulations are enforced.
(ii) “Affordable Houses”
The Community Council makes this point about the need for homes that are accessible to first time buyers repeatedly to the County Council and will continue to do so. It is hoped that the development of the Village Plan will strengthen our position in this regard.
(iii) “Speeding”
Concerns about excessive speed on the A 494, Swan Lane, Glyndwr Road and on the Tros Y Wern Estate have been constantly raised with the police, the county and with the Welsh Assembly. Currently a public meeting is being considered – watch this space.
(iv) Cycle Lanes
The Community Council will raise the matter with the County Councils or, if necessary the Welsh Raods Trunk Road Agency.
(v) Bus times
The Community Council will write to the County Council about this matter and pay special to the need for the service to extend into the evenings.
(vi) Bus Shelters
The Clerk to the Community Council has been led to believe that work will start soon on replacing existing bus shelters. The new ones will include the seating requested on one of the “post it” notes. The Community Council will monitor the situation.
(vii) “Litter”
The Community Council requests that areas that are of particular concern because of litter are drawn to the attention of individual Community Councillors. The Council will then engage either the County “Litter team” or organise a “litter pick” comprising local volunteers.
(viii) “Post Office/shop”
Members of the Community Council were frustrated by the way in which the Post Office withdrew the provision from the village without any adequate alternative mobile or temporary arrangements being put in place. The Council is continuing to try & secure a mobile Post Office for the Village. Also the notion of a “community produce” scheme is being explored.
(ix) “Lunch Club for older people”
Work that involves discussion with the local authority, voluntary organisations and Caffi Florence has begun about this idea. Proposals will be put to the Community Council in September.
We really appreciated the ideas and suggestions that came through the “post it” notes and the questionnaires. If you have any further thoughts do not hesitate to contact us.
