GWERNYMYNYDD VILLAGE NEWS

October 2007

Community Council
Chairman Keith Taylor welcomed 10 members of the public to the September meeting. They were objecting to the latest planning application by Persimmon Homes for the development of 24 homes at Siglen Ucha which the Community Council also opposes. There has been no reduction in the number of homes planned and although access / egress has been moved lower down the A494 Ruthin Road, councillors and residents of the Twmpath and The Paddock developments opposite, believe the traffic hazards remain.  Members voted unanimously to oppose this latest application. A site meeting will be held in October and members of the public are urged to attend. The date and time will be circulated when known.
PC Gary Aldous reported a house party held by young people resulted in items being stolen and general disruption - mainly due to under-age drinking. The police have had to be involved on several occasions and he urges parents not to allow youngsters to hold parties unsupervised. He also reported more disruption from street parking and parking on pavements. The Mobile Library was unable to negotiate Blaen Wern recently and difficulties have been encountered elsewhere in the village.
Regarding the application to re-open Bryn Gwyn Quarry .The Community Council wrote to all sixty Welsh Assembly members asking for support for the Prohibition Order. Quarry owners D.P. Williams (Holdings) Ltd. challenged the Order and asked for a Public Inquiry. No action will be taken regarding consideration of confirmation of the Prohibition Order pending the outcome of the Public Inquiry. Cllr. Chris Bradshaw was praised by members for keeping local residents informed of progress and supplying information for protest letters. Excellent support is being received from Sandy Mewies AM and David Hanson MP .Cllr. Nancy Matthews proposed joining forces with other affected villages and this was agreed.
