Community Council

At the June meeting, Chairman Keith Taylor welcomed 6 members of the public, all residents of Cadole. Speaking individually, they complained that Village Road Cadole was being used by motorists as a cut-through from the A494 to the Gwernaffield Road, or from the opposite direction – to visit the shop, and to park in the lay-by outside the shop. The protestors say motorists drive at the maximum speed of 60mph on the Gwernaffield Road, and that should no other traffic be coming from the opposite direction, maintain the same speed down Village Road. Another strong complaint – described as an ongoing problem, was the danger and nuisance of boy racers driving through Village Road. Cllr Tom Barley who first brought the problem to the attention of the members, had in a letter, made several suggestions for possible solutions. The council has written to Flintshire County Council asking for urgent action and County Cllr. Nancy Matthews assured the residents of her personal attention to the matter.

Cllr Chris Bradshaw brought members up to date with the protest against the application to re-open Bryngwyn Quarry. Flintshire County Council has temporarily deferred the discussion on the proposal to issue a prohibition order from June 28th to July 31st. F.C.C. has received a large number of letters of objection to the application .Letters of support have also been received from David Hanson MP and Sandy Mewies AM for Delyn

. Cllr. Carl Jackson reported three recent failures of the Pelican Crossing lights and auditory system. Members were reminded that similar failures had been reported to F.C.C. last February, together with a request for a notice to be displayed at the site giving the F.C.C. telephone numbers to contact should the Crossing be found out of order. This request has been repeated with renewed urgency. (Numbers are 01352 704635 and out of hours 01352 780812). The next meeting is on Thursday July 26th at 7.15pm.at the Village Centre .Also present is County Cllr Nancy Matthews, should anyone need her help or advice.
