Community Council

At the March meeting of the community council, Chairman Keith Taylor welcomed PC Gary Aldous who reported three disturbing incidents which had occurred during the past few weeks. A garden shed had been broken into and a hedge-cutter stolen. A burglary in the Heol-y-Wern /Godre’r Mynydd area resulted in a number of large boxes being removed. PC Aldous would like anyone who remembers seeing a van or car being loaded with such items on Wednesday March 26th to contact him on 0845 6071002 ext 33491. Also the unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle was reported from the Rainbow area. PC Aldous advises anyone interested in obtaining ‘Smart Water’, a substance for the permanent marking of belongings, to contact him on the above number.

Cllr. Chris Bradshaw gave a report on the recent first four days of the Bryn Gwyn Quarry Public Inquiry. This is to be continued on three further days, Wednesday April 30th and Thursday and Friday May 8th and 9th. Cllr. Bradshaw said he hoped the remaining days would be as well attended as the previous four.

A planning application to build 24 dwellings on land (Siglen Ucha) off the A494 Ruthin Road Gwernymynydd has been withdrawn. The Community Council and other objectors to the proposal have been informed of the withdrawal by Flintshire County Council.

Cllr. Tom Barley reported damaged manhole covers on the A494 at Cadole. The council is writing to Denbighshire County Council asking for speedy repairs. He also reported insufficient collections of rubbish from the waste bin at Cadole bus stop. More frequent collections are to be requested from Flintshire County Council.

. The County Council and Town and Community Council elections will be held on Thursday May 1st. The next meeting of the Community Council is on Thursday April 24th at the Village Centre starting at 7.15pm. and the May meeting is moved forward to May 8th. The public is always welcome to attend. Also present at the meetings is County Cllr. Nancy Matthews should her help be needed.
