Gwernymynydd Development Plan Progress

At a meeting last week of the Gwernymynydd Development Plan Steering group, Cllrs Elwyn Owens and Chris Bradshaw reported on their recent meeting with the County Council to discuss the Development Plan. Present at this were Colin Everett (Chief Executive) Carl Longland (Director of Environment) Andrew Farrow (Head of Planning) Andy Roberts (Head of Planning Policy) and Cllr Nancy Matthews.

Group leader Chris Bradshaw said that after an extensive and constructive discussion, a series of actions was proposed by Colin Everett to further develop the plan with County Council support. The Community Council will follow up the proposals and the two leaders have thanked the officers for the constructive spirit of the meeting.

The April meeting of the full Gwernymynydd Community Council was also held last week. It was attended by PC Gary Aldous and PCSO Andrea Ellis, both warmly welcomed by Chairman Elwyn Owens. PC Aldous said he was pleased to report it was a crime-free month. Regarding the ongoing problem of parking at Cadole, he said the recent meeting of the Community Council with the Trunk Road Agency representatives had been extremely helpful and that despite the difficulty of the two-county responsibility, the outlook was promising.

The chairman reported on the progress of the Youth Club and praised the loyalty and initiative of the young members who had devised and prepared an impressive presentation for the Gwernymynydd Festival.
