Community Council At a meeting on August 18th of the Village Development Plan Steering group, Community Council Chairman Cllr. Elwyn Owens said he was delighted another local resident had volunteered to join the seven already recruited. The volunteers are Norma and Graham Humphreys, Paul and Jane Roberts, Tom Dawson, Graham Cook, Elizabeth Barlow and Vicki Seddon. Vice-chairman Cllr.Chris Bradshaw gave an up to date assessment of progress so far and it was decided to deliver questionnaires throughout Gwernymynydd and Cadole. Residents will be asked their opinions on improvements and changes they would like to see introduced, and suggestions for activities etc. The results will be analysed in early December by Chris Bradshaw, Elizabeth Barlow, Carl Jackson, Liz Parry, Jane Roberts, Vicki Seddon and Keith Taylor. Gwernymynydd is the first village in Flintshire to introduce its own development plan and is working with the full co-operation of Flintshire County Council. Community Council members are Cllrs. Tom Barley, Carl Jackson, Rachel Morrell, Gwyn Morris, Liz Parry, Heather Roberts, Olive Sweetman, Keith Taylor, Marjorie Thomson. Clerk to the Council is Martin Richardson. Also in attendance at meetings is County Councillor Nancy Matthews. At the July regular monthly meeting, the Chairman read a report from PC Gary Aldous who was unable to attend. .Referring to the A494 speeding action plan he was trying to put in place, he said Flintshire Arrive Alive had carried out a survey last month and reported less than 5% of traffic is exceeding the present prosecution level. As a result Arrive Alive would not be carrying out speed checks on the road, and PC Aldous said he has closed the action plan at the present time An appeal by Osghan Ltd concerning the refusal of planning permission on the proposed development at Tros-y-Wern farm is to be held on Tuesday September 15th at the Village Centre starting at 10am. Blaen Wern which was entered in the Flintshire County Council Best Kept Senior Citizens Estate 2009 competition has been awarded equal 3rd prize of £35. In a letter to the members, the organisers said this money should be used towards the purchase of plants, Spring bulbs or anything that will enhance the estate further. The Presentation ceremony is to be held at County Hall Mold on September 18th. Regarding continuing concern about dangerous summer parking at Loggerheads, the members were told that Cadwyn Clwyd Rural Development Agency and Denbighshire Countryside Service jointly arranged for a feasibility study to be carried out on July 26th and 30/31 August.
