At the March meeting of Gwernymynydd Community Council, Chairman Cllr. Elwyn Owens welcomed PCSO Andrea Ellis who reported two thefts in the village during the past month. .One was of diesel stolen from a vehicle and the other the theft of a bicycle. She said the bicycle had now been returned. She also reported that she and Mr Alan Ellis of Neighbourhood Watch had carried out a visual audit of the villages of Gwernymynydd and Cadole. Graffiti had been found in two places which required expert removal, however, another minor piece of graffiti they were able to remove themselves. She said Police in Flintshire and Denbighshire were trying to resolve the problem of illegal parking at Loggerheads- a situation causing difficulties and danger to pedestrians, and that PC Gary Aldous had contacted the North Wales Trunk Road Agency about the problem.

Chairman Elwyn Owens and Cllr. Chris Bradshaw gave an update on the progress made on the ‘Where Are We Now?’ Gwernymynydd Development Plan Exhibition and Open Day. This is on Sunday May 10th at the Village Centre and grounds from 11am to 3.30pm. The project involves the Community Council, the County Council and local residents in developing a plan for the future of Gwernymynydd, the exhibition being the launch of the project. So far, around 20 organisations have been invited to exhibit on the day including pubs, local authority services and local organisations. Admission will be free and refreshments available.

Three members attended a site meeting at the proposed Tros-y-Wern Eco-homes development which the community council has strongly opposed, and Cllr Liz Parry gave a report on the meeting. The application has since been refused, but Cllr. Parry said it was not yet known if the applicants Osghan Ltd. would appeal.

Community Council Clerk Martin Richardson told members a response had been received from Flintshire C.C regarding a complaint about roadside surface water gullies. This confirmed work on the gullies has now been carried out.

The next meeting is on Thursday April 30th. The community council meets on the last Thursday of the month at the Village Centre at 7.15pm and the public is always welcome to attend. County Councillor Nancy Matthews is also present at the meetings should anyone need her help or advice.
